1 Welcome to Class Connections
Mrs. Beach’s Fourth Grade STAR STUDENTS

2 Meet Mrs. Beach This is my 15th year teaching fourth grade and it’s always an adventure! 2 Children: Chloe is in 3rd grade Carson is in 1st grade We love to go camping. I spent a lot of time gardening and canning this summer.

3 Entryway All students/parents will need to wait in the entryway until the doors open at 8:30 am. Students going to Kids Club will be able to go through the office. * Parents picking up children at the end of the day will need to wait in the new entryway until school is dismissed. There will be sign-out sheets per grade level to sign.

4 Classroom Communications
* Planners Homework (Spelling, Reading Log, AR) Any Unfinished Classroom Assignments *If students have excessive homework each night please let me know. * Weekly Communication I will get your off of the emergency contact form. If you don’t have access to please let me know and notes will be sent home weekly.

5 Classroom Management School wide use of Nurtured Heart approach. (Focusing on the Positives) Behavior Rubrics Class Dojo Reasons for resets Off Task Behavior Shouting Out Interrupting Others Playing with Materials Troubles in Specials Hallway Misbehavior

6 Brain Break and Snack * Snacks: Healthy Brain Food (except Birthdays)
* Students have the opportunity to go outside each day. * Students may be in for Brain Break Detention if: They have missing or late assignments The class receives 3 or more class resets in one day.

7 Fourth Grade Curriculum
* Common Core Parent Guides for Math and ELA are available * Spelling based on student’s knowledge of spelling patterns. * Social Studies taught by Mrs. Beach * Science Taught by Mrs. Balfour

8 Specials Schedule Monday: STEAM, Library & Library Checkout
Tuesday: Gym Wednesday: STEAM Thursday: Technology Friday: Gym

9 At Home Projects * Bring in pictures to decorate our writers notebooks. * Disguise a turkey for a writing project. * Electric Boards * Think Energy Kits and Survey * Support Genius Hour Projects

10 Genius Hour Weekly time for students to explore topics of their own interest and create projects to share the knowledge they learned with the class. This is student-led, I’m just here to help facilitate. Sample Projects -

11 Field Trips * Potter Park Zoo- Students will research how a zoo runs for a writing assignment. * JC-Potter Center for a play. * We try to cover some of the cost of our trips by running the fourth grade school supply store, Supplies R Us. However, there will still be a cost per student.

12 Report Cards * 4 – Consistently and Independently Meets and Exceeds Standards * 3 – Meets Standards * 2 – Approaches Standards: Needs Additional Practice and Support * AC – Below Standards: Area of Concern

Power School helps you keep track of your child's grades. You can set up weekly or daily s. –Our class website. You will find classroom information, newsletters, pictures, etc. here. - You can also set up At Home Connect for AR to receive s when students take tests. -Class Dojo
