Workfare is its own program… Transitional Employment Activity Works off the food assistant benefit Requires site based contractual agreements Provides a recent work history Contributes to community Generates money to counties Blended in with the SNAP E & T portion of our program…Colorado the only State to blend in both as far as we know….may do a combonation contract with TANF program sites…site agreements are required and are good for three years…Workmens Comp required and usually covered by the county…

Initial Site at first visit Barrier Assessment- Identify Barriers to Employment Soft Skills- Helps with Soft Skills determination Transferrable Skills- Helps confirm Job Experience Job Search Plan- Can contribute to focusing on job prospects [Instructional Activity for Assessment provided by Demareo}

Workfare Outcomes Lower risk of workers compensation claims Meaningful Workfare experience Better Feedback with Workfare Sites Increase focus on participant training

Enhanced Funding Received at one and a half the amount of the reduction of benefits due to participation in Employment First

Begin “the Chain” a Chance for a Claim Workfare Starts… …unsubsidized job obtained within 30 days from the end of first participation

Contract Every Activity Requires a Contract with the Participant [Provide handouts of blank contractual agreement]…each time an activity changes a contract for that activity must be signed or every twelve months witch ever comes first
