2. Problem: Lost Preferences
When you quit PageSpeed or SpeedWriter, the current Adobe preferences are saved
If the save is interrupted by a computer problem or network glitch, the preferences may revert to Adobe defaults
This occurs infrequently, but is very disruptive to users
Solution: You can create scripts to help users quickly recover from a loss of preferences and reset them to preferred defaults

3. How The Preferences Scripts Work
You can create one or more preferences scripts with different settings for InCopy or InDesign
Save the scripts and upload them with SpeedManager so that everyone gets the same set of scripts
If you are a cloud customer, or do not have access to SpeedManager, create a case and we can upload the scripts

4. What The Users See Users can access the scripts in InDesign or InCopy
Click on Windows>Utilities>Scripts>Application
Click preference script; takes about 10 seconds to run and reset the preferences

5. How To Use Create Preferences Scripts
First, run InDesign and InCopy and set up the preferences you want to have for recovery
We have a PDF that shows which preferences are saved in the script
If you want to include a Workspace or Keyboard shortcut set in the preferences, find out the name of the Workspace or Keyboard shortcut set
The name for Workspace or Keyboard shortcuts is case-sensitive
You’ll need to include brackets if you see them, for example, [SpeedWriter]

6. How To Use Create Preferences Scripts
Run the save preferences script
“Save InCopy Preferences” script in InCopy
“Save InDesign Preferences” script in InDesign

Type in a Workspace name to include, if needed
Type in a Keyboard shortcut name, if needed

Save the script where you can find it
Use SpeedManager to upload
If you’re a Cloud customer
Save it in Z:/drop/Prefs
If it’s not there, create a subfolder called “Prefs” for the preferences scripts
Create a case to have the preferences scripts uploaded
