Direct-fluoresent-antibody (DFA) testing using reagents (polyclonal and monoclonal)
Positive DFA result must be come together with PCR confirmation or culture for B. pertussis.
Culture method – role in isolation of B. pertussis and related species, especially for antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) in cases of treatment failure.
