Context Clues Comparison and contrast is another context clue that can help you identify an unknown word. With this type of clue, the meaning of an unknown word can be unlocked by comparing it with another key word. Example: My grandmother is parsimonious, but she is not as cheap as my grandfather.

Underline the context clue and write the definition of the bold type word in each sentence.
