4 Section 1 of the Notebook

5 Creating A Cover You will use your notebook to take notes, draw pictures, complete assignments and express yourself on topics dealing with this course. But the cover is so boring!! It ís up to you to spice it up! Your cover will be a reminder that you are serious about doing your best.

6 Content Content: Your cover should have the following basic elements in writing somewhere on the cover and easily readable: The name of your course: 2. The words: Interactive Notebook 3. The class period that you have this course 4. The school year: The Teacher: Mrs. Clenney 6. Your name (at the front right bottom)

7 Visual Content: Information
Use a textbook or utilize the Internet to identify at least two (2) body systems in which you are interested. Draw or use magazines, or print images from the Internet to illustrate the two systems or areas within the design of your cover. Labeling may help your design.

8 Personal Information Identify at least two aspects of yourself as a person or as a student and place it on the cover. If you are a skateboarding expert, use the skateboard as a symbol for yourself. If you play the violin, use the violin as a symbol for yourself and include it in your cover design. The symbol can be your favorite thing, a hobby, or something special about you.

9 Cover Assignment Use your creativity to develop a cover you can be proud of. It can be in mixed media, which means you can use photos, crayons, magazine cut-outs, and construction paper in combination to create a cover that reflects your interests. Or maybe you are a computer graphics artist and want to include your own hand drawings as well. Just be sure you have the required content.

13 Glue or Glue Sticks? Liquid Glue will hold better but can be messy- most students use way too much and glue their pages together.  Rem.– “A Little Dot of Glue”

15 About Myself Section This is your time to brag on yourself.
Let me know you Goals, accomplishments, obstacles you have overcome. Interesting facts about you, etc. This needs to be 1 page in length, complete sentences, and proper grammar/punctuation.

16 7 Word Autobiography I want to know more about you. You will create a 7-Word Autobiography on your first page. Auto- Self Bio- Life Graph(y)- Record Wordle is a great tool!

22 Class content sections Bell Work
The first section of the notebook is Bell Work We will be using ACT Prep questions and medical terminology for our notebook. You may put multiple bell works on one page but the date must be noted.

23 Notes After the bellwork section, you will need a section for each set of notes that we take. The notes need to be easily read and organized.

24 Classroom activities/Assignments
For each notes section, there will be corresponding in class activities. These need to be placed in their own section so they can be easily found when grading If I can not find your activities, you will not get a grade.

25 Section 5 Extra Activities to be done over the semester, when we have extra time.

26 Summaries When we finish each notes section, you will be responsible for writing an overview paragraph detailing what you learned and describing the lab activities that you completed. This needs to have complete sentences and proper grammar. Yes I am going to actually read them.

27 Career Research and Goals Essay
Don’t Panic! These are not due till later in the course. You will be researching at least 3 different health care careers that interest you. Guidelines are listed on the next slide

28 Career Research Activity
1. Job Description (min. 250 words)- site sources where information came from 2. Roles and Responsibilities (min. 5 items)-site sources 3. Essential knowledge and skills needed to perform the job-site sources 4. Programs or Paths of Study available to reach occupational goals starting with high school (concentration, courses to take, ACT score needed, observation hours, etc.) –site sources 5. Required Personality traits (minimum of 5)-site sources 6. Licensure and Credentialing Requirements-site sources 7. Non-educational job requirements such as physical fitness, minimum age, and psychological evaluations-site sources 8. One photo of each career-site source

All work must be typed and follow proper paper formatting (1 inch margins, 12 pt. Arial font, double-spaced, header at the top, title bold and in the center of the page) All of your work must be ORIGINAL-meaning in you OWN words. Any information you use from an outside source must be properly documented and credited. 30 Career Goals Essay After you have researched possible career choices, Choose one that you can see fitting your life-style/desired income etc. Minimum 1 page, compete sentences, proper punctuation and grammar Why you chose that career Why you believe you would do well in that career Personal traits that will help you in that career.

31 Weird/Interesting Disease Research
Choose a strange disease that interests you. Research the disease and write a 2 page research paper over the disease Cause Symptoms Diagnosis Treatments Populations impacted Body systems that it impacts Interesting facts/information
