4 Computer Upgrade $49, could get 144 processors. This would give you 1.9 times the speed of the current sage. $65,640 could get 192 cores and 2.5 time the current sage. Currently, we have $15K (indirect) from FS and $ 40K from Consortium.

5 Major Improvements Begin mesoscale initialization using NOAA Rapid Refresh (13 km) fields (next year could go to 3 km High Resolution Rapid Refresh). Much better 3D starting point. Very noticeable for boundary layer issues, like stratus. Also can use other physics that is more optimal for BL issues.
