The Weimar Republic (A brief background)
Germany’s first attempt at liberal democracy. Created in the turmoil that was left by the Great War. Constantly threatened by revolution. Faced unprecedented economic difficulties. Had very little support! Lasted 14 years and ended with Hitler’s ascent to power in 1933. Friedrich Ebert, leader of the SPD (Social Democrat Party) & Weimar.
