In order to capture and maintain the interest of your audience, it is important to enhance your presentation. The same information can be presented in the presentation but graphical elements will appeal to your audience. Graphics can communicate messages that cannot be stated in words. Introduction

Changing the Layout of a Slide
The Layout of a slide is the proposed design/rough draft as initially presented by the software, showing the relative positions of text and illustrations before the specific content of those elements has been added. Changing the Layout of a Slide
To change the layout of a slide select the Layout button located in the Slides group of the Home Tab. Demonstrate how to change the slide layout using the Layout command in the Slides Group on the Home Ribbon. There are 9 different layouts provided by PowerPoint 2010:

The default slide layout when opening a presentation is a title slide.
You may alter the layout of any slide as you see fit. The slide content will be repositioned based upon the slide layout that is selected. Slide Layout

Inserting clip art into a presentation can add interest for the audience. Microsoft stores clip art in the Microsoft Clip Organizer, but you may also download clip art using the web through Office Online. Clip art includes illustrations, photographs, videos and sounds as well as other graphical elements. Inserting Clip Art

To insert clip art, go to the insert tab on the ribbon and select clip art under the images group. The clip art task pane will appear on the right side of your screen. To search for a specific clip art, type your search criteria in the “Search For” box and select Go. Demonstrate how to open the Clip art task pane by choosing Clip Art from the Insert Ribbon. Graphics can be scaled to the desired size after they are inserted into a slide.
To open the Format Picture dialog box you can right-click and choose Format Picture from the shortcut menu, or simply select the graphic and then clicking on the Format tab under Picture tools on the Ribbon (this only appears once a photo/graphic is selected). Scaling an Image

Using the corner sizing handles will help to maintain the ratio of the image
The Size group on the Picture Tools Format Ribbon will display the original dimensions of the image, in the even that the default settings need to be restored. Scaling an Image To optimize the image for a slide show, select the “Best Scale” check box.

Recoloring a Clip Art Image
To recolor an image select the image and choose the Color command in the Adjust group on the Picture Tools Format Ribbon. Images can be recolored to coordinate with the presentation. Demonstrate how to undo a color change that was applied to an image. Recoloring a Clip Art Image

Images from many sources can be used in conjunction with PowerPoint.
To find a picture from an external source, on the Insert Ribbon, select Picture. Then browse your files until you locate the image you wish to use. To resize the image remember to select the image and then to use the corner sizing handles to make adjustments. Changing image attributes such as size, brightness, and contrast can further enhance a slide.
Cropping an image can allow the user to customize the image for their specific needs. All of these options are located on the Format Tab under Picture Tools of the Ribbon (picture must be selected). Demonstrate how to use the commands on the Picture tools Format Ribbon to alter brightness, contrast, and the size of an image. Demonstrate how to reset the picture to the original settings using the Reset Picture command in the Adjust Group on the Picture Tools Format Ribbon. Inserting & Modifying WordArt
WordArt allows the user to create a graphical image from text. To create a WordArt image, select the WordArt command on the Insert tab of the Ribbon. To edit a WordArt image, select the image and use the Edit text command on the Shortcut menu to make changes. To reshape the WordArt image, use the Edit Shape command on the Drawing Tools Format Ribbon once image has been selected. Tables are used to arrange text in columns(vertical) and rows(horizontal) and allow for organized data to be displayed in a presentation. To insert a table select the Table command on the Insert Tab. You can insert a table by highlighting then selecting the amount of rows and columns you desire, or by selecting Insert Table. (This option will allow you to enter in the number of columns & rows. The Table Tools include a Design Tab and a Layout Tab which will only appear when the table is selected (tabs disappear when table is not selected). Inserting a Table

Tables may be modified to enhance their appearance in a presentation
Tables may be modified to enhance their appearance in a presentation. To do so, use the Styles under the Table Style group on the Table Design Ribbon. To merge (combine) or split cells or to change the alignment in the table, select the icon in the appropriate group under the Layout Tab once the table has been selected. The table sizing tools are located here as well. To control the view of gridlines (the lines separating each column and row) use the Layout tab. Modifying a Table

A textbox's purpose is to allow the user to input text into the presentation where a placeholder had not been used. A blank slide is the perfect location to place a blank textbox to create a customized slide. To insert a textbox use the Textbox command on the Insert tab. You then can add the desired text and format the text using the Font Group on the Home Tab. Insert a Textbox
