3. Classroom Embedded Assessment
Supports teaching and learning
Any means of gathering evidence of student learning in order to make adjustments to both teaching and learning strategies
Not specifically a “thing” like a test, but any process of gathering data and using it to move teaching and learning forward
Grades K-12, continuously throughout the year
Bottom line: If you are using formative assessments, interpreting the data, and adjusting your day-to-day teaching, YOU ARE ALREADY DOING THIS!

4. Through-Course Task Supports learning and teaching
Tasks of varying structure and length focused primarily on revealing student competencies around SEPs and CCCs untethered from the PEs
Use to
Calibrate expectations for student attainment of the 3 dimensions of standards, as well as the ability to integrate the 3 dimensions
Identify what support(s) students need to progress their learning
Grades K-12, one per year (for the )

5. “I’ve heard they are starting this year! Now what?!”
Will be available through Sharepoint (mid-November)
Every student completes ONE (selected by teacher) by the end of March
Will cover SEPs and CCCs
Evaluated locally with provided scoring guide
Initially 2-3 available per grade level to select from, more will come
Formative, NOT summative
NOT for accountability
DISTRICTS submit ANONYMOUS representative student work sample (one per TCT) to KDE
Purpose is to create a set of “marker papers” to help teachers across the state calibrate their expectations
