The FFDCA is a set of laws passed by congress in 1938 giving authority to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to oversee the safety of food, drugs, and cosmetics It was introduced in order to influence the death of over one hundred patients due to a sulfonamide medication where diethylene glycol was used to dissolve the drug and make it into a liquid form

Environmental issues include protection of human health by preventing harm coming from things such as food additives and cosmetic products The FDA is responsible for enforcement and regulation of this act
