Organization CHAPTER 1 - Personal introduction and Professional Interview (1 & 2)
3
Objetivos de sua aprendizagem:
Learn how to have a small talk. Initiate and keep a conversation in a job interview.
4
Asking and answering personal questions
Introductory phrases change the way the questions words are asked and the direct questions become more polite and conversational. What do you do in your free time? I wonder if you could tell me what you do in your free time.
5
Asking and answering personal questions
What are you studying at Estácio? Would you mind telling me what you're studying at Estácio? Where were your born? I'd like to know where you were born.
6
Additional information to extend the conversation further.
Could you tell me a bit more about...? Sorry, but I'd like to know some more about... I didn't quite follow what you said about (asking for clarification)
7
Additional information to extend the conversation further.
Sorry to press you, but could you tell me...? (pushing for more information) That's interesting. Could you explain further? © Ml12nan | Dreamstime.com ID
8
Think about There are some situations in which we need some more time to think about before answering a question: Well, let me see… Well now... Oh, let me think for a moment... That's an interesting question...
9
When you may want to avoid answering altogether
I'm sorry: I'm not really sure. I'm terribly sorry, I really don't know. I've no idea, I'm afraid. I can't answer that one, but I'll tell you where you can find out... I'd rather not answer that, if you don't mind.

Learning how to have a small talk
Small talk is an informal type of discourse that does not cover any functional topics of conversation or any transactions that need to be addressed.
12
Talking about the weather
Beautiful day, isn't it? Can you believe all of this rain we've been having? We couldn't ask for a nicer day, could we? How about this weather? Did you order this sunshine?
13
Talking about current events
Did you catch the news today? I heard on the radio today that they are finally going to start building the new bridge.

How did you hear about the position? What do you know about the company? Why do you want this job? Why should we hire you?

First impression Do not forget first impression can have a great influence on the rest of the interview; therefore, it is important that you introduce yourself, shake hands, and be friendly. © Imtmphoto | Dreamstime.com
23
“Breaking the ice" type of question
How are you today? Did you have any trouble finding us? What do you think of the weather lately? Answer the question, but don’t go into too much detail. Use a very simple language and be polite.
