Know your Rhetoric Notes (on website). Be able to identify words and definitions from the AP Language and Composition Rhetorical Terms and Glossary (on Website). Add allusion: A brief or indirect reference to a famous person, place, text, or idea Add analogy: A comparison between two things, typically on the basis of their structure and for the purpose of linking an unfamiliar or new idea to common and/or familiar objects Add metaphor: A comparison of two unlike things without using like or as Add juxtaposition: Two things being seen or placed close together with contrasting effect Be able to identify examples of rhetorical terms from The Things They Carried, The Crucible, and the “Give Me Liberty” Speech.
