Different types of erosion
Corrasion- sand and pebbles are thrown against the cliff by the sea which wears away the cliff Attrition- boulders and rocks at the base of the cliff are rolled around by the sea until they wear away and become smaller and eventually become sand Solution- salt in the sea water reacts with certain rock types such as limestone and chalk and will erode these cliffs away at a faster rate Hydraulic action- as water hits the cliff, air is trapped in any cracks in the cliff, when the wave goes back this air is released with pressure that wears away the cliff. All these types of erosion happen at the CLIFF FOOT- base of the cliff

What type of weathering?
3
Different types of weathering
Physical weathering- freeze thaw- water gets into cracks as rain and overnight as temperatures drop the water turns to ice and expands. This puts pressure on the cliff and breaks it away. Chemical weathering- weak acids in rainwater react with certain rock types such as limestone and cause them to break away Biological weathering- when seeds fall into cracks in the cliff and grow, the roots expand and break away the cliff. Burrowing animals can also wear away the cliff All these happen on the CLIFF FACE (at the top of the cliff) and are called sub aerial processes (erosion)
