5 II KINGS 20:1 Most people concerned mainly with living, make little provision for their eventual death. Death occurs in all age groups! When we do think of death it is usually in terms of physical things such as wills, estate planning, life insurance, financial security, funeral arrangements, etc. Death – the living have to deal with losing their parents, spouse, children, friends, family. Tough to deal with these losses! What about our own preparation for our own deaths? Most of us need to “set our house in order”---spiritually as well as materially---before our death comes.

6 WHY? Man’s need to prepare for death is emphasized by three basic Bible facts: 1. Certainty of Death

9 CERTAINTY OF JUDGMENT II Cor. 5:10---God is not only our Creator and Father but will serve judgment--- I Peter 1:17 God’s judgment of man will be an individual judgment rendered on the basis of men’s deeds in this life--- Rom. 2:6-11

Gal. 6:7-8---Spiritually unprepared at death Man is punishable by God because he is a morally responsible being and therefore accountable to God Romans 1:18-21 Many will be punished for disregarding their spiritual needs even though they made careful and ample provision for their material needs Matthew 16:24-26

12 WHY? The need to prepare for death was the essence of Paul’s sermon to Felix--- Acts 24:24-25

13 HOW? Correct thinking about the brevity of life and certainty of death is needed--- Psa. 90:12 Proper Attitude in this life – Psalm 27

15 PROPER ATTITUDES Our attitude must be realistic, so that we will make proper preparation, which in turn will fill us with confidence I John 4:17-18

19 PROPER ACTIONS The truly worthwhile life is spent pursuing that which will outlast life: spiritual well-being---Matthew 6:19-21

20 WHEN? Most individuals postpone and procrastinate making preparation for death---often until it is too late Acts 24:25 Death too important a concern to put off---it deserves attention NOW!

21 WHEN? Young or old, present time is the time to enjoy fellowship with God God deserves our best, not what we have left over after a life spent pursuing our own interests--- Eccl. 11:9-12:7; Eccl. 9:4-6

22 WHEN? There is more to life than life itself--- Luke 12:13-21
Life lived to the glory of God means we are prepared to live or die without fear!--Phil. 1:20-24
