Welcome to White House Heritage Orientation

2 Graduation Requirement
End of Course (TN Ready) Tests are administered at the end of the class session and this year count 15%-25% of the student’s final grade for the semester.  EOC Tests in English 1, English 2, English 3, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, U.S History, Biology, Chemistry Must take the ACT to graduate.  Must take and successfully pass the TN Civics Test.

3 English Requirements*
English 1 1 credit English 2 1 credit English 3 1 credit English 4 1 credit or Dual English Credit through Volunteer State or Austin Peay.  Counts as English 1010 and English 1020 for College credit.

4 Math Requirements Math-4 Credits (students must take a math class every year) Algebra 1: 1 credit Geometry 1 credit Algebra 2 1 credit Upper level Math 1 credit The following will be other Math options

5 Other Math Options for Year 4
Bridge Math for students who have not earned a 19 on the ACT Math portion Bridge SAILS through Volunteer State for students who score less than 19 on the ACT Math Portion and are going to a 4-year college. STEM Math (Pre-Calculus, Advanced Calculus,  Statistics, Dual Enrollment (DE) Statistics, DECollege Algebra, DE PreCalculus)

6 Science & Social Studies Requirements
Science-3 credits Physical Science /or additional lab science 1 credit Biology-1 credit Chemistry/Physics-1 credit Social Studies 3 credits World History & Geography- 1 credit U.S. History & Geography (Junior Year)- 1 credit Economics-½ credit Government-½ credit

7 Fine Art, World Language & Elective Focus
Fine Arts 1 credit World Language      2 credits Elective Focus 3 credits Students completing a Career/Technical Education (CTE) elective focus must complete three courses in the same CTE program area of study. Science, math, humanities, fine arts can also be an elective focus

8 Other Requirements Wellness 1 credit P.E. ½ credit
Personal Finance ½ credit

9 State Goal Every senior to be a Ready Graduate by:
21+ on ACT  or 4 EPSOs  2 EPSOs+Industry Certifications Or 2 EPSOs+ASVAB *EPSO:  EARLY POST-SECONDARY OPPORTUNITIES

10 Volunteer State Community College Dual Enrollment Opportunities
Must meet Vol. State enrollment requirements:  ACT: 19 Composite, 19-Reading, 19-English, and 19-Math On-line and Face-to-Face courses available. Most Face-to-Face courses hosted at school of zone. Cost:  1st 4 courses are FREE.  Must maintain a B or above. May enroll as a Junior or Senior. See a school counselor to discuss course offerings.

11 Robertson County EPSO Opportunities
Accessing Dual Enrollment through Volunteer State Community College to gain college/high school credit. Accessing Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) to gain industry certification. Accessing University of Tennessee Martin to gain college credit in the area of agriculture and/or academic dual credit. Accessing Austin Peay State University Collaborative to gain an Associate's Degree while meeting high school graduation requirements.

12 Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT)
Eligibility requirements:  Good attendance, on-track for graduation and minor discipline infractions. Requested industry certification area must have openings. Industry certification would be pending completion of the program after high school. Complete TCAT application and successfully interview for admissions. Students must have transportation to TCAT campus. Participation hours may vary- see a school counselor for details. Programs Available: Manufacturing, Computer Info Technology, Machine Tool Technology,

13 University of Tennessee Martin
Must have a 3.00 GPA for admissions, no ACT requirement for agriculture courses. Must have a 3.00 GPA and a 19 ACT Composite for admission into academic courses. Courses delivered on-line through the University of Tennessee at Martin. UT Martin provides the school counselors grade updates every 4 weeks. Meet with a school counselor to discuss enrollment and course offerings.

14 Austin Peay State University Collaborative- Associates Degree!
Entrance to APSU Collaborative:  Must have completed sophomore year, have a 3.0 GPA and score a 19+ on ACT math/English portion.  APSU Collaborative hosted at Highland Crest Campus in Robertson County. Students may enroll in summer courses located at APSU or on- line. Opportunity to earn hours of Dual College credit that can be applied to an APSU degree or transferred to other colleges or universities.  Transportation from school of zone to Highland Crest campus is provided and must be utilized. See your high school counselor for additional information.

15 ATTENDANCE ATTENDANCE IS IMPORTANT TO EARNING CREDITS.  IF YOU ARE NOT IN CLASS THEN YOU CANNOT RECEIVE THE INSTRUCTION TO EARN CREDITS. The State of Tennessee and Robertson County Board of Education adopted a policy where 8 unexcused tardies or early dismissals will equal 1 unexcused absences.  10 unexcused absences result in truancy charges.

16 What is GPA? A = 4 points B = 3 points C = 2 points D = 1 point
F = 0 points This is very important for class rank, university admissions, scholarships, etc. Your GPA starts after your very first nine weeks (quarter 1) grades. Ranking (the Board Policy-students taking advanced classes will be ranked above those who do not) Advanced Classes + 3 rigor points are added at the end of each nine weeks grade Valedictorian ties are broken by EOC/TCAP scores (Algebra 1, English 2, Biology) and ACT scores.

17 Online Registration You will be making course REQUESTS (does not guarantee all of your requests will be met) Option to choose from all classes offered in the county (Course handbook is on the system and school web sites) Some courses are required for some school years Each student will meet with a counselor to confirm course requests made on Power School Parents may meet with the counselor and student by appointment if there are questions

20 Tennessee Promise Financial aid program offering two years of tuition-free community of technical college to Tennessee high school graduates Provides eligible students with a last-dollar scholarship, meaning the scholarship will cover tuition and fees not covered by the Pell grant, HOPE scholarship or TSAA Mentors are provided for all TN Promise scholars

21 TN Promise Student Eligibility
Be a Tennessee resident Graduate from high school Enroll in an eligible institution the FALL after graduation (TCAT may enroll in summer) Complete the application PRIOR to the deadline Meet ALL deadlines and requirements before enrolling, including mandatory meetings, mentor program and community service

22 Tennessee Hope Scholarship
Apply by complete the FAFSA prior to deadline Tennessee resident for ONE year by Sept. 1 of the application date Graduate from an eligible TN high school Enroll in an eligible TN college/university ACT of 21 OR GPA of 3.0 Must enroll within 16 months of high school graduation Must continue to meet academic progress to keep the scholarship

23 Class Ranking Policy Students are NOT ranked until March of senior year (after Q3 grades are posted) Students who take at least 8 advanced, honors, AP or Dual enrollment classes will be ranked above any student who does not meet this requirement Credits prior to 9th grade do not count If there is a tie for valedictorian/salutatorian, End Of Course test scores and ACT scores will be used to determine rank and break the tie School board policy can be found on
