Your Writing Task You need to do three things:
Read and analyze the source material Take a stand on the topic identified in the prompt Clearly and logically support your claim Cite evidence from AT LEAST THREE sources Develop well-reasoned warrants to connect your evidence back to your claim PRO-TIP: When citing, you may refer to sources by their letters or by the identifiers listed in parenthesis. Developing Your Draft Introduction Body Paragraphs Conclusion
Introduce the subject and its context Clearly state your position on the given topic Body Paragraphs Claim, evidence, warrants… Conclusion AVOID A FINAL PARAGRAPH THAT MERELY SUMMARIZES – end with a final remark, the last pertinent thought you want your reader to remember Developing Your Draft

5-6 minutes reviewing texts and determining which you’ll use in your essay
8-10 minutes planning the support of your position 20 minutes writing the essay 3-4 minutes checking to make certain you’ve included AT LEAST THREE sources and that they are correctly cited 3 minutes proofreading Timing Your Response
