What are we doing? For this first unit, the homework assignment will be completing a haiku on major topics, people, and/or events I will tell you what topics to write your Haiku on or what topics you can choose between I will collect ALL of your Haikus at the end of the unit, BUT I will be checking them weekly to make sure you are on track

At the End of the Unit: Put together all of your completed Haikus on a single sheet of paper Add pictures if you want! Make it neat! Each Haiku will be worth 5 points

How to write a Haiku Haikus have 3 lines: Line 1: 5 syllables
Each Haiku will be on a specific topic, person, event, place, or thing and the lines must describe it in some way

Examples: 1. English Colonies: The English Gold and tobacco hungry
Settle Virginia 2. Constitution Balance of Power Bill of Rights applies to all More perfect Union 3. Louisiana Purchase Louisiana Best Deal in History Fifteen Million

TEST: Written Test (Not Multiple Choice)
At the end of the unit (after Reformation) There will be 2 writing/essay prompts Take home test Open book/open note USE the HAIKUS! (they are a quick way to remember concepts) More info later/closer to the test date
