Christians to government – subjecting to the authorities Romans 13:1 & 5, to governing authorities Titus 3:1, subject to rulers and authorities 1 Peter 2:13, to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake cf. Acts 4:18-20, 5:29 – we ought to obey God rather than men

Employees to employers – servant/master application Titus 2:9-10 be obedient – showing good fidelity 1 Peter 2:18, even the harsh Colossians 4:1, Ephesians 6:9 masters (employers) are to treat workers with repsect

How do we Submit to one another
In the fear of God – reverence! Ephesians 5:21 James 4:7, submit to God cf. Hebrews 12:9, we subject to earthly fathers Romans 10:3 – some did not submit to the righteousness of God

Unto God – for His sake! Colossians 3:18, as is fitting 1 Peter 2:13, “For the Lord’s sake.” Are we thinking about God in our conduct with others?

As the church is subject to Christ– Ephesians 5:24, we submit to Jesus and His instructions

It is mutual – 1 Peter 5:5, “one another” – reciprocal! Willingly – submission should not be a drudgery. We gladly submit – cf. 2 Corinthians 12:15 Romans 13:5, for conscience sake

With respect – the premise of submission! cf. Galatians 3: Hebrews 12:9, submit to God as we did to our earthly fathers and paid them respect

With humility – required for submission 1 Peter 5:5-6, how we submit to one another James 4:6, God resists the proud, gives grace to the humble

With love – in all we do Romans 12:10-11, 1 Peter 1:22 brotherly love moves us to care and act in the best interest of each other. Philippians 2:3-4, 1 Corinthians 16:14, let all that you do be done with love
