1 I AM FREE GALATIANS 5:1

2 BIG IDEA OF THIS SERIES: Our identity is not in what we do but in who Christ is. This 4-week series will examine our identity in Christ, and what that means for us and what that can do for us.

3 Big Idea of the Message: You are God’s masterpiece!
Week 1 Big Idea of the Message: You are God’s masterpiece! “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time for us to do.” Ephesians‬ ‭2:10‬ ‭CSB‬‬

4 Big Idea: God made us who we are so we could make known who He is.
Week 2 Big Idea: God made us who we are so we could make known who He is. “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his possession, so that you may proclaim the praises of the one who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.” ‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭2:9-10‬ ‭CSB‬‬

5 Week 3 Because of what Jesus did on the cross and through the redemption of His blood, we are forgiven.

6 BIG IDEA: Freedom in Christ allows us to walk out our true identity in Christ.

7 “For freedom, Christ set us free
“For freedom, Christ set us free. Stand firm then and don’t submit again to a yoke of slavery.” Galatians‬ ‭5:1‬ ‭CSB‬‬

8 God is never going to help you be somebody else.—Kirk Franklin

9 Being set free and walking in freedom are not the same
Being set free and walking in freedom are not the same. The first was done for us by Jesus, but the second we must choose to do ourselves in his strength and by his grace. - Christine Caine

10 FREE FROM MY PAST Freedom is not letting your yesterday affect your today.--Joyce Meyer “Your past does not determine who you are, your past prepares you for what you will become.”

11 YOUR HISTORY DOES NOT DEFINE YOUR DESTINY
YOUR HISTORY DOES NOT DEFINE YOUR DESTINY. BUT YOUR HISTORY PREPARES YOU FOR YOUR DESTINY. YOUR HISTORY BECOMES HIS STORY!

12 “Return to your stronghold, you prisoners who have hope; today I declare that I will restore double to you.” Zechariah‬ ‭9:12‬ ‭CSB‬‬ Where you see failure, God sees a future.

13 Don’t be a prisoner to your failure, instead be a prisoner of hope because God has a better future ahead of you.

14 2. FREE FROM THE OPINIONS OF OTHERS AND FREE FROM COMPARISON TO OTHERS
The ultimate freedom is to be free from the need to impress others.--Joyce Meyer “Don’t compare your life to others. You have no idea what that person has been through.”

15 “For am I now trying to persuade people, or God
“For am I now trying to persuade people, or God? Or am I striving to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.” Galatians‬ ‭1:10‬ ‭CSB‬‬ “Let each person examine his own work, and then he can take pride in himself alone, and not compare himself with someone else. For each person will have to carry his own load.” Galatians‬ ‭6:4-5‬ ‭CSB‬‬

16 “For we don’t dare classify or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves. But in measuring themselves by themselves and comparing themselves to themselves, they lack understanding.” 2 Corinthians‬ ‭10:12‬ ‭CSB‬‬

17 3. FREE FROM SIN Christian freedom is freedom from sin, not freedom to sin.--A.W. Tozer

18 "For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters
"For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love." Galatians 5:13 "For you are free, yet you are God’s slaves, so don’t use your freedom as an excuse to do evil." 1 Peter 2:16

19 Our level of freedom is contingent upon our ability to follow and our ability to follow is dependent upon our ability to obey God.

20 Our freedom in Christ allows us to be known for the right things and not the wrong things.

21 “Then Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you continue in my word, you really are my disciples. You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”” John‬ ‭8:31-32‬ ‭CSB‬‬

22 There’s a purpose to your freedom in Christ.
BIG IDEA: Freedom in Christ allows us to walk out our true identity in Christ.
