2 Who and how they want to be in the world VS.
Finding a Career

3 Initial steps: curriculum admin and district coordinators met with Jan Unwin, Kathy Sanford and a variety of other reps from districts and the Ministry in order to discuss the direction of the new Careers Curriculum. Consistent messages: Careers needs to encompass all four of these, for ALL students.

4 G Suite or GAFE: High schools put FTE towards establishing a space for Core Competencies and Careers - teachers worked with TL, homerooms, admin to co-design and co-teach lessons (2016 – spring 17) Ex. Poster for a classroom:

6 District Goal for Careers
A unanimous decision for our district was to have Careers integrated throughout the schools and school day, meaning students would be exposed to Careers in a variety of ways. To accomplish this we knew it would take a year or two to gain momentum. We knew every teacher would need to be supported in some capacity. School goals for getting students immersed in Careers: during all classes with references, conversations and examples around Careers, grade assemblies and school assemblies – presentations and topics related to Careers, tag or home room – topics, explorations and conversations, Counsellors and Career Teachers face to face supporting, GAFE accts for resources and additional support.

7 SD 62 Curriculum Redesign
Collaborative Planning Inquiry Careers 9-12, development and implementation new curriculum, meaningful implementation, student driven, adapted to each school/ student needs.

10 FTE and details Model 1 Careers 9 - Google Classroom assignments, focus block for explorations and face to face time once per month, home room, and assemblies all provide the additional experiences related to Careers. Planning 10 – Moodle platform, focus block for explorations and face to face time once per month, home room, and assemblies. Grad Transitions face to face and projects, focus block for explorations and face to face time once per month, home room and assemblies. 11 Model 2 – Blended & Cross Curricular
Using new CLE and CLC curriculum in a blended platform (Moodle) - PL10 & GT12 Face to face time is during each core subject once per semester: 5 F2F total each semester Grade based assemblies and school assemblies for presentations 4. G Suite (GAFE) for Core Competencies: 9-12 ** Careers teachers, Careers 9, PL, GT, Dept Heads, Admin - collaboration for implementation NOTE: These models are NOT our end goal, but our jumping off point. We don’t necessarily want grade specific or two 4 block courses, what we want is flexibility and Careers to be 9-12 throughout all curriculum with F2F.

12 Careers 9 A Google Classroom platform, monitored by careers 9 teacher (.25 fte). Students get Careers Curriculum through core subjects, assemblies (presentations), and in home room. Each core subject - once per semester – supports a cross curricular assignment or project. Careers teacher collaborates with core teacher. Assessment meets both subjects curriculum / big ideas, therefore marks are shared.

13 FTE and Details Model 2 Careers 9 - Google Classroom assignments, home room, and assemblies all provide the additional experiences related to Careers. CLE 10 (Planning - not planning) – Moodle platform, new CLE curriculum, face to face time 5 times per semester, home room, and assemblies. * new outcomes /Big Ideas in an old framework – not end goal. CLC (Grad Transitions) face to face with projects, home room and assemblies. * same as above Teacher Librarian – cross curricular support for core teachers. Careers, Teachers, Teacher Librarian and Admin support collaboration. Release time was given for collaboration in June 2017 and Sept. 2017

14 All in All Collaboration is key
