Learning Objectives What I’m looking for…
Gain an understanding of how and why the Die Brücke artists used simplified facial features for their woodblock prints. Learn to use the macro/super macro settings on the digital cameras for close-up photography. Learn how to stylize facial features. What I’m looking for… An understanding about stylization. An ability to take successful, focused and high quality close-up photography of the facial features. An ability to simplify the facial features in a photograph to create a stylized eye, ear, nose and mouth drawing.

15 minutes Go around the classroom using one of the digital camera’s and take a close-up photo using the macro lens. You need at least one good quality photo of: An eye A nose A mouth An ear

DON’T just draw an outline!!!
5 minutes Once you have printed your close-up photos you need to look carefully at the most extreme tonal sections and using blocks of black, begin to create a simplified, stylized feature. DON’T just draw an outline!!!

Do all 4 features the same way
40 minutes

PREP.WORK Ensure that you have completed all 4 stylized features and document them in your sketchbook.

5 minutes Turn the back of your book and write ‘stylized features’ onto your ‘Self-reflection, consolidation, evaluation and target setting’ sheet. Now complete each section thinking about the success of your drawing and what difficulties you encountered and how you overcame them.
