Valence Shell Electron Pair Repulsion (VSEPR) theory is a model used, in chemistry, to predict the geometry of individual molecules from the number of electron pairs surrounding their central atoms

The premise of VSEPR is that the valence electron pairs surrounding an atom tend to repel each other, and will therefore adopt an arrangement that minimizes this repulsion. This will determine the geometry of the molecule.

The bonding pairs and lone pairs will arrange themselves as far as possible from each other.
Lone pairs repel themselves more than bonding pairs.

Double and triple bonds are treated as one pair or region.

The "AXE method" of electron counting is commonly used when applying the VSEPR theory.

The A represents the central atom and always has an implied subscript one.

The X represents the number of atoms that are bonded to the central atom.

The E represents the number of lone pair electrons surrounding the central atom

Based on the steric number and distribution of X's(atoms) and E's(lone pairs), VSEPR theory predicts the geometry of the molecules

Electron arrangement is the geometry of the molecules describes the arrangement of all the atoms and lone pair electrons around the central atom

Molecular Geometry describes only the atoms around the central atom.
