4 SUFFRAGE Fighting for women's right to vote
Led by Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton Led to passing of 19th amendment in 1920 which gave women the right to vote

National American Women Suffrage Association (NAWSA) Led by Carrie Chapman Catt Lobbied for President Wilson and congress to pass women's suffrage constitution amendment Membership in 1910 was in the millions

National Woman's Party (NWP) Leader was Alice Paul Militant Picketed the White House to make the pass women's suffrage constitution amendment

7 BIRTH CONTROL MOVEMENT
Movement to reform issuers related to marriage, sexuality, and childbirth Censure porn Abolish prostitution Stop trafficking Raise age of sexual consent Pro sex ed. Believed it was the right of wives to refuse husbands Didn't want men to be sexually superior to women

8 IMPACT OF BIRTH CONTROL MOVEMENT
Birth rates went down Divorce was an option, but it wasn't popular Women chose not to get married Created American Birth Control League which became planned parenthood National Birth Control League also formed

9 NEW FEMINISM The belief that the women's movement was about more than the right to vote. Women wanted emotional and sexual freedom.

10 MATERNALIST REFORM Mass movement for direct government action to improve living standards of poor mothers and children 1910 law that gave them a pension Benefitted white widows Didn't really help single mothers and African American mothers
