Push and Pull Drag

2 will prevent the SCBA from riding up on the victim firefighter.
A Locate and assess the downed firefighter and place the firefighter on his or her back. The waist strap of the victim’s SCBA should be unfastened, and one strap should be passed through the crotch area and refastened. This will prevent the SCBA from riding up on the victim firefighter.

B One rescuer (Rescuer 1) will locate him- or herself at the head of the downed firefighter, taking hold of the downed firefighter’s SCBA shoulder strap. Rescuer 2 will take a position inside the legs of the downed firefighter, lifting one of the downed firefighter’s legs over his or her shoulder. Rescuer 2’s head should be positioned high into the groin area with the shoulder driving into the buttocks of the downed firefighter. Correct positioning of Rescuer 2 is essential for this drag to be effective. JPR 16-5B
