The Story of Josh Hamilton
Hamilton was the first overall draft pick in the 1999 draft by the Tampa Bay Rays. He was projected to be the next best thing in baseball and was considered one of the best natural baseball players ever. After two years of playing professional Hamilton was one of the top young players. A injury in 2001 sidelined him for most of the season. He was left alone with tons of time and money. He started hanging out at tattoo shops a lot and was introduced to cocaine. Hamilton liked cocaine from the start and started doing it at parties. He became addicted and shortly he relied on the drug.

Continued After the 2002 season Josh was suspended from baseball for an entire year so he quit the game he once loved. For the next four years of his life he binged on crack/cocaine and Meth. One day when no one else would take him in he went to go live with his grandmother. “You’re such a good boy,” she said “there is so much good you could do with your life, instead you’re wasting it. I will not let it happen under my roof if you’re going to continue to do this, I’m kicking you out its your choice. This is the climax of the story in which Josh had to make his decision, if he wanted to continue to be an addict or reclaim the life he once lived.

Life After Drugs Josh decides to quit drugs and go back to his old life. With the help of his wife and grandmother Josh is able to get back to baseball and was one of he best players in the game from There have been a few relapses along the way but he continues to play in the MLB. Some of his achievements include- 4 time all-star 2010 MVP and he played in the 2011 and 2012 world series.

Conclusion I would recommend this novel to anyone because it isn't just about sports. Josh Hamilton’s story is something that anyone can appreciate. It’s a story of never giving up on your dreams and puts one in the mind of an addict. It was meaningful to me because I'm a huge fan of his and he's my favorite baseball player.
