Steps for Solving Multi-Step Eq.
1.) Simplification (Could involve none, one or more of these simplifications) A.) Adding Like Terms for each side. B.) Change Subtraction Sign to Plus the opposite. (- = +-) C.) Using the Distributive Property D.) Multiply Both Sides by the Least Common Denominator or LCD.

Steps (Cont.’d) 2.) Add the Opposite of the Constant on the same side as the Variable, to both sides of the equation. 3.) Then either divide by the coefficient or multiply by the reciprocal of the coefficient to both sides.

Steps (Cont.’d) 4.) Solve for the variable. (If the variable has an opposite symbol in front of it, then multiply both sides by –1.) 5.) Check your answer by substituting your solution back into the original equation.
