4 Tips For Better Volunteer Communications
1. Be Effective Communicate often but if you aren’t getting responses from your volunteers, take a critical look at what you are writing. Clearly articulate your message. Choose who the communication will come from (Event Leader). Don’t overload volunteers with s. They’ll stop reading and miss the important stuff. Weekly communication vs. daily/hourly. Focus on successes and actions with accountabilities. Wednesday, December 05, 2018

2. Keep Them In The Know Volunteers want to feel that they are a part of something. When they get regular updates, they are more likely to feel a greater emotional connection to MDA. Sending communications that lets volunteers “know what you know” tells them they are important. Wednesday, December 05, 2018

3. Stay In Touch In between your active walk season ending and starting again, consider a volunteer update for all things MDA so that they stay connected and realize big picture of activities Phone calls and thank you cards provide opportunities to separate their volunteer experience from their “jobs” and daily activities. 4 Tips For Better Volunteer Communications
4. Prepare for Those Who Won’t Read Some volunteers won’t read communications regardless of how well written they are. Over recruit volunteers to your committee so you have additional worker bees to pick up the slack. Prepare a follow up to communication.
