As we answer questions about the texts, please try to be specific in your answers. Go back to the text and find words and phrases that help you answer the question.
Everyone’s eyes should be on the text when a question is asked. There is no need to raise hands, because everyone will be called on at some point.
Make sure to mark up the text as we answer questions. It will make the assessment easier when you go back to the text.
You will notice line numbers. These will help us focus our analysis. Many questions require evidence from multiple areas.

How much gold did the natives need to bring the Spanish, and what was the purpose?

6. Assignment
The author, Hans Koning, gives an alternate perspective on the long held belief that Columbus was a hero and a great explorer who discovered America and his actions were greatly shaped over resources. Write a short response that answers the following question: How do resources affect cooperation or conflict among Latin American cultures? Provide at least three examples/pieces of evidence from the text/ painting to support your claim. Additionally, provide reasoning why your evidence supports your claim.
