1 ABC District School Board (School name/logo) Adult and Continuing Education Contributes to Board Achievement Levels A Fictional Report Date Team Member Names The first slide contains the following information: Title of Project, Names of Action Research Team, Date, Board/School Name and Logo

2 Research Questions/Hypotheses
What is the contribution of Continuing Education to the Board's goal of credit accumulation and an increased graduation rate? What are students’ reasons for choosing to take courses through Continuing Education? Hypotheses Continuing Education makes a significant contribution to the Board's goal of credit accumulation and increased graduation rates. Students will have a variety of reasons for taking courses through Continuing Education including the benefit of focusing on one course at a time, (and/or?) to free up time in their day school timetables.  Note: Research questions or Hypothesis can be included. Not required to include both. The research question is written in clear language and, in most cases, in the past tense – especially if you have conducted an action research project – as the action research has already taken place.

3 Methodology Initial discussion occurred with board researcher
Literature review completed Data on credits and diplomas granted were collected from student management system for (?) school year(s) Survey created, distributed, collated and analyzed Conclusions, suggested program changes and recommendations were formed Written in point form and the past tense.

4 Findings: Secondary School Credits Granted
# of Credits versus Program Type Thanks to the Thames Valley DSB for use of their charts. The data is fictional. Conclusions, actions and recommendations are entirely fictional and not based on these findings. Bar Graphs are used to show trends with the bars arranged in order of magnitude to show the trend. Pie Graphs are used to compare parts of a whole (usually %) and the parts are arranged in the circle in order of magnitude. About 10% of the total secondary school credits granted were granted by A. A. C. E. during the period. Of these, the majority were earned through Wheable Adult and Con ED

5 Findings: Number of Graduates
# of Graduates versus Program Type Comparison of Adult and Continuing Education with other Secondary Schools Thanks to the Thames Valley DSB for use of their charts. The data is fictional. Conclusions, actions and recommendations are entirely fictional and not based on these findings. Each graph has a title clearly describing the data that is being represented. About 11% of the graduates graduated from A. A. C. E.

6 Findings: Focus Groups
Key findings on why students attend night school classes: Students were unable to fit specific course into their timetable during the day. Students were upgrading or earning a required pre-requisite course for entry into college or university program. Students were one credit short of the required number of credits required for graduation. Fictional Material

7 Conclusions Adult and Continuing Education Programs have a significant positive impact on the board’s credit accumulation rate and graduation rate. Students’ reasons for attending vary. Therefore, it is possible that other specific courses could be offered that would increase the board credit accumulation rate and graduation rate. Fictional Material Note: the conclusion must directly answer the research questions(s) and must be supported by the data/findings.

8 Resulting Impact or Change on Program Delivery
Course offerings at (name of program) will be reviewed to meet students’ needs with the goal of increasing graduation rates Fictional Material

9 Recommendations (Next Steps)
Further research is required to determine if there is a correlation between the reason a student takes a night school course and their success in the course A review of secondary school timetables is required to determine if day school timetables can be better structured to meet course needs of their students Further research will occur to determine if other courses should be offered to meet the needs of the adult student population Fictional Material
