Research your assigned topic
Each person in your group must find a different source on your assigned subject
Take notes on/close read your source and share relevant points

3. Becoming Experts (Days 2-4)
You are going to become experts on a single topic!
You will create a handout that will be distributed to the rest of the class
The handout MUST include the following information

4. Handout Specifics Title and Date(s) of the event
Background of your event
bullet points or a timeline
Summary of the event itself (1-2 paragraphs)
Important statistics and/or facts about the time period in which the event took place. (CITE!)
Facts about the time period
Attitudes during the time period
Other events that happened around the same time
Explanation of how your event has shaped our society today

5. How? You may create your handout on the computer or by hand
It should be on regular computer paper, no more than 8.5”x11”
It MAY NOT be simply a page of text!
Block out your information so that each piece is easily picked out
You can use a grid, or visual effects to separate your handout
Make copies of your handout to give out to everyone in class: perhaps make 6-7 copies each so no one is making all 35 copies

10. Research Detectives
In your groups, go over the research that you close read/took notes on
Discuss your research with your group members.
What did you all find?
What were you confused by?
What is important, and do you all agree?
Which details should you definitely keep and what can you perhaps glance over?

11. Next Steps: Create a shared doc: Google OR Office 365
Decide what things you should include about the background of the time period (this may require additional research)
Come up with a rough outline of your summary
Divide up your handout and decide how you want everything to be laid out
