Addressing Youth Unemployment
Since Foundation for Jobs launched in 2012 more than 6,000 young people in Darlington have benefitted. Working with partners 543 new apprenticeships have been created at firms that never employed them before. 66 young people have developed entrepreneurial skills.

659 young people have taken part in internships or eight-week work experience placements

4785 school age pupils in Darlington have built closer links with industry since 2012.

We have received regional and national backing
Since May 2016 we are supported by The Royal Academy of Engineering. Since April 2015 we have received direct financial support from schools in Darlington. Since April 2015 we have received direct financial support from The County Durham Community Foundation. We have been visited by HRH The Duke of York and won a national award for our work.

What makes us different
We do not give talks – we inspire young people to consider industry sectors they may not have thought of through exciting practical activity. All our activities are delivered in partnership with business, industry and the education sector. We are specifically targeting those sectors which we know face skills gaps but struggle to recruit. We directly work to address those areas employers tell us are an issue for them and schools want support with.
