In addition to the primary manifestation of HCV in the liver, many extrahepatic manifestations have been reported to be associated to chronic HCV infection. These include cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes and insulin resistance, neurocognitive dysfunction, systemic vasculitis, B cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma and chronic kidney disease. Patients chronically infected by HCV present a high risk of chronic renal impairment and have a linked, increase in morbidity and mortality.
