Resetting Your Life Breakthroughs Jacob’s New Name

Resetting Your Life Genesis 32: 22-30 NIV
27 The man asked him, “What is your name?” “Jacob,” he answered. 28 Then the man said, “Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel, because you have struggled with God and with humans and have overcome.” 29 Jacob said, “Please tell me your name.” But he replied, “Why do you ask my name?” Then he blessed him there. 30 So Jacob called the place Peniel, saying, “It is because I saw God face to face, and yet my life was spared.” The rest that was taking place in Jacob’s life was symbolized by his new name: Jacob > Israel (one who prevails with God). The man gives Jacob a new name and then blesses him. RESET!!! How does wrestling with God and living, this reset, prepare Jacob/Israel to face Esau?

Resetting Your Life Genesis 33: 1-5 NIV
1 Jacob looked up and there was Esau, coming with his four hundred men; so he divided the children among Leah, Rachel and the two female servants. 2 He put the female servants and their children in front, Leah and her children next, and Rachel and Joseph in the rear. 3 He himself went on ahead and bowed down to the ground seven times as he approached his brother. 4 But Esau ran to meet Jacob and embraced him; he threw his arms around his neck and kissed him. And they wept. 5 Then Esau looked up and saw the women and children. “Who are these with you?” he asked. Jacob answered, “They are the children God has graciously given your servant.” How is it different that Jacob led his family to meet Esau? What was his attitude as he approached his brother? Do you think that would that have been the same before the reset? Who was the one who had been stuck in the past, Jacob or Esau? How was the relationship between Jacob and Esau also reset?
