Improve conditions for civic and democratic participation at EU level Contribute to Citizen's understanding of the Union, its history and diversity

6 Strand 1 – European Remembrance
Aims to promote reflection on causes of totalitarian regimes and also on defining moments in recent European history Project length: 18 months Maximum grant: €

7 Strand 2 – Democratic Engagement & Civic Participation
Town Twinning Aims at mobilizing citizens at local and Union levels to debate on concrete issues from the European political agenda. Partners: 2 countries Maximum grant: € Project length: max. 21 days

8 Strand 2 – Democratic Engagement and Civic Participation
Networks of Towns Aims to promote that Municipalities and associations to work together on a common theme in a long-term perspective – to develop networks among towns to make their cooperation more sustainable. Partners: 4 countries Maximum grant: € Project length: 24 months

9 Strand 2 – Democratic Engagement and Civic Participation
Civil Society Projects Aim to gather Citizens in activities directly linked to Union policies, with a view to give them an opportunity to concretely participate in the Union policy-making process in areas related to the objectives of the Programme. Partners: 3 countries Maximum grant: € Project length: 18 months

3. Ostracism and loss of citizenship under totalitarian regimes – drawing lessons for today 1. Celebrations of major historical turning points in recent European history (Annual commemorations) REM 4. Democratic transition, accession to the European Union and Europeanization 2. Civil Society and civic participation under totalitarian regimes

3. Combating stigmatization of 'immigrants' and build counter narratives to foster intercultural dialogue and mutual understanding 1. Understanding and debating Euroscepticism Democratic engagement and civic participation 4. Debate on the future of Europe 2. Solidarity in times of crisis

12 Award Criteria Consistency with the objectives of the Programme and Programme Strand – 30% Quality of the activity plan of the project – 35% Dissemination – 15% Impact and citizens' involvement – 20%
