How are the results listed?
Each search engine has a different formula for ranking the information it searches for This is one of the reasons that a search for the same word(s) on different search engines will produce different lists, with the pages presented in different orders A search engine will ‘rank’ the number of times that the word appears on a page The search engine might assign a weight to each entry, with increasing values assigned to words as they appear in the title of the page, near the top of the document, in sub-headings, in links, or in the meta tags

The code provides information including: what the page is about which keywords represent the page's content Many search engines use this information when building their indexes
