Writing: Small Moment Narratives – adding details and editing our stories
Reading Skills: Reviewing all short vowels /a/, /e/, /i/, /o/and /u/ Reading Strategy – Make the 1st sound and look at the picture to help with tricky words.
Language Skills: Review common nouns and proper nouns, review writing declarative sentences with correct capitalization and punctuation
Math Skills: Addition fluency within 10: commutative property, doubles & doubles + 1, patterns on the addition chart, practice counting nickels and pennies

Reminders
Make sure to label all jackets and sweaters that come to school. There is no “Lost and Found” at MCE. Lost jackets will be returned to their owners when they are found--if there is a name.
Also be sure to send any money coming to school in an envelope or ziplock bag with your child’s name and the money’s purpose. Lunch money can suddenly become Fun Friday money in your first grader’s mind if it is not labeled.
Our field trip is next Friday. We should have our first grade t-shirts to send home to you for the students to wear with jeans and sneakers. Your child needs a disposable sack lunch, as do chaperones.
