Fact A fact is a true statement. A fact is something you can prove.
You can find facts in nonfiction books, newspapers, and textbooks

Examples of Facts: A square has 4 sides. Blue is a color.
Dogs have fur. Valentine’s Day is on February 14th. 4 + 5 = 9

Opinion An opinion states something you believe or feel.
An opinion cannot be proven true or false. Writers may use words such as “should,” “worst,” or “best.” You can find opinions in magazines, advertisements, and lots of other places!

Examples of Opinions: My mom is the best mom!
I think I am the smartest kid. Cats are the worst! You should eat your dessert before your dinner. Birthdays are the best!
