“The Giving Tree” Can Construction Project
Our Goal: Collect 2100 cans to make a can sculpture. For this project, we will be collecting cans of particular sizes and colors in order to build a can structure that meets the specifications of our design. We will need approximately 870 large brown cans (such as Bush’s Baked Beans 16 oz.) and 1215 flat green cans (such as Chicken of the Sea Tuna 5 oz.). All food will be donated to My Brother’s Keeper, an organization that provides social services in the Baltimore community. The can structure will be built in inspiration of the children’s book, The Giving Tree, by a team of engineering students from the Seton Keough High School. Women in ABC, a committee of women who are directly involved in the field of commercial construction, will be sponsoring this project and awarding a scholarship upon its completion. Our construction team will acknowledge and promote the philanthropy of all our sponsoring organizations. Construction will take place on April 2, 2013 at The Seton Keough High School, 1201 Caton Avenue, Baltimore, MD
