Homework In a short 1-2 paragraph response Choose one of the financier/industrialist discussed in class and explain why he is or is not a robber baron and support that stand with evidence. Due 1/30

What is a Robber Baron? An American capitalist of the latter part of the 19th century who became wealthy through exploitation (as of natural resources, governmental influence, or low wage scales).

Captain Of Industry During the Industrial Revolution, a captain of industry was a business leader whose means of amassing a personal fortune contributes positively to the country in some way. This may have been through increased productivity, expansion of markets, providing more jobs, or acts of philanthropy.

Group Activity Each group will be assigned one of four Robber Barons. You have been given a number of different documents (as a class set) about one individual and a graphic organizer. Take 10 minutes to fill out the organizer based on the documents provided.

Group Activity We will now go over each Robber Baron. You should be taking notes on the three individuals that you did not go over.

Silent Reading I will be handing out three short readings (as a class set). After you have read the three documents write a hypothetical letter to the editor stating how you believe your assigned industrialist would respond to these pieces? Write this one the back of the page that you used for the warm up. I will be collecting it.
