Mrs. McHugh’s Weekly Roar We are Studying: Reading: This week we are reading the story “The Big Blue Ox” and “They Can Help”. Grammar: A sentence has an action part called a predicate or telling part.  It tells what a person or thing does.       Mom and I feed our pet.  (The predicate is feed our pet.)     The dog eats. (The predicate is eats.) Math: Students will model different number combinations with counters and write related addition and subtraction facts.  Students will write and identify different subtraction sentence that are true for the same model.  Students will explore the meaning of equals in the context of subtraction sentences.  Students will use counters to act out and solve subtraction story problems.  Science: Students will discuss animals helping people in past and present times.  Students will be exploring air.  They will explore how air helps objects move.  They will gain an understanding of air taking up space. Weekly Homework Folders: *Turn in all homework every morning.
