RESEARCH OBJECTIVES: Why are public Technical Vocational Education Training (TVET) schools not functioning? What is the impact of the absence of public TVET schools on marketable skills and employment opportunities for youth in Mogadishu? RESEARCH METHODOLOGY: This research will adopt descriptive research and will employ the qualitative research method Key Informant Interviews (KII) for data collection to get deep information related to this topic. The seven KIIs will be conducted face-to-face, and use a semi structured checklist. The study will cover government reports, technical papers and working papers which are considered to be useful to answer the main research question..

RESEARCH FINDINGS: This study found that the interviewed experts said that the current curriculum and syllabus does not enhance the TVET program, and the educational system in the country is not designed to deliver TVET education, which has resulted in huge unemployment, migration and partially drives armed groups, clan militias, and extremist groups. The main challenges and factors that are emphasized by the respondents are the absence of National Policies (NP) and National Strategic Plan (NSP) for TVET programing. In addition to that there is no public TVET Centre under the control of MOECHE. It is significant to note that the government does not allocate funds/budget to support TVET facilities.
