**Remember to wear tennis shoes on P.E. days**
Mrs. Hawkins’ First Grade News March 27, 2018 A Peek At The Week -In reading we are continuing to direct instruction at students’ reading levels. -In Math we are working with shapes. This week students will explore how to divide a shape into equal parts. They will also be introduced to new math vocabulary: ½ and ¼. -Writing time this week will continue with Poetry. We will listen to a variety of poems for sound words and create a Weather Poem by the end of the week -Our Core Knowledge time will continue with the American Revolution. Last week we learned about the 13 Colonies, the Boston Tea Party, and the Shot Heard Round the World. This week we will learn about the 13 Colonies declaring independence, the Legend of Betsy Ross, George Washington, and Yankee Doodle. Homework Ideas -Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays - reading homework -Tuesdays and Thursdays - math homework Looking Ahead - March 26th: No school for students - March 30th: Spirit Day- Favorite Baseball Team - April 4th: 1st and 2nd grade Battle of Books (3:30) in the learning lab Extra News - We are finishing up the last few details of our 1st grade field trip. Be looking for more information coming home soon! Specials this Week Monday – No School Tuesday- Art Wednesday- Music Thursday- P.E.
