3 Epic Desktop – this is the “Home” screen

4 Epic Desktop: Epic Desktop is your center for Epic applications. It provides access to your entire enterprise through function-specific menus and tabs. 5 The “Epic” Button The yellow star represents your selected favorite items. Scheduling, Billing, Referrals, Registration/ADT and Reports are accessible from the Epic menu. These options open cascading menus of related options. The Recent section near the top are up to the last 5 items accessed noted by a White star. Click on a white star Beside a recent item to select it as a favorite. Click the Epic button or press ALT to open the Epic menu

6 Epic Desktop: Hyperspace Toolbar
The hyperspace toolbar contains menu command shortcuts that are utilized frequently; click once to open the selected toolbar option. Hyperspace Toolbar These options can also be selected via keyboard; press the “Ctrl” key and select numbers 1 through 9 to open the toolbar options starting with “Appts” as number 1. Hold down the Ctrl key and then press #1 and release to open the appointment desk. Note: Menu/toolbar options displayed may vary; selections are based on security and the users role.

7 Epic Desktop: Workspace Tab
When Epic is initially opened, only the In Basket icon (Home Activity Mini Tab) is displayed in the workspace. This is the only permanent workspace, it cannot be closed. You can open 4 additional workspaces; each open workspace can contain several screens (a patient’s appointment desk, registration record or reports). An open workspace is displayed as a tab. The active workspace is blue to alert you which record/report you have open. Open workspaces that are not displayed have gray tabs. Workspace

8 Epic Desktop: Workspace Tab
Click the tab of an open workspace to display that workspace. You can also use the keyboard keys to navigate to any open workspace by pressing the “Ctrl” key and then pressing “Tab” to move the focus to the next workspace. The Ctrl+Tab options moves from left to right; to go in the opposite direction, hold down Ctrl+Shift+Tab. Note: Only 5 workspaces can be displayed at one time. Workspace

9 In Basket Activity Toolbar
Epic Desktop: In Basket Activity Toolbar Provides buttons to accomplish tasks related to the current activity. The buttons in the activity toolbar act as a second level of navigation, after the Workspace tabs. Click a button to display the activity associated with it in the active workspace. In Basket Activity Toolbar Note: Activity toolbar icons vary from activity to activity.
