VOLUNTEER SUBJECTS NEEDED
FOR AN EXERCISE PHYSIOLOGY STUDY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF BRITISH COLUMBIA Project Title: Within-breath modulation of MSNA during submaximal exercise Principle Investigator: A. William Sheel, Ph.D. Co-Investigators: Emily Gerson, BSc. Carli Peters, Msc. Caitlin Geary, Undergraduate Joseph Welch, MRes. j We are recruiting a group of healthy participants for a study investigating the interaction between sympathetic outflow and tidal volume during different exercise intensities Eligibility: - Males between years of age (inclusively) - Healthy, i.e. free of cardiovascular disease or lung disease (including asthma) - No history of smoking or asthma If a participant is eligible he will be asked to come to UBC Chan Gunn Building for 2 visits: 1st Visit : An exercise test on an stationary bicycle. 2nd Visit: Exercise test on a stationary bicycle while we quantify neural activity in arm. Time Commitment: The 1st day will take approximately 1 hr and the 2nd will take 3 hrs. Total time commitment – 4 hours over 2 visits.
