Exam dates 24th May paper 1 (non calculator)
7th June paper 2 (calculator) 12th June paper 3 (calculator) 24 weeks away 18 school weeks away
3
What to revise Revision list. Foundation focus on 1-5
Higher focus on 3-9 Use this as a tick sheet and if you are not sure what a topic is then search it on maths watch.
4
Environment (Be honest)
No distractions (No phone). Use a stop watch and stop it every time you are not revising. Plan the session and make sure you have everything before you start. Example Plan the topic to be covered. Questions to be used. Revision resource you will use. Have drink on the table. Equipment – Calculator, pen, ruler, compass, protractor, pencil.
6
Two sides to revision Acquiring the knowledge.
Recalling the knowledge. Which one first???
7
Practise practise prastise …………then practise some more.
Research has shown that the best way to test our ability to recall information is to practise questions. Questions which involve more than one area of maths will allow you to revise more than one topic alongside seeing how they link together. Allows us to assess what we know and what we need to revise further. GOOGLE DOC folder.
8
Tackling the difficult questions (the ones you avoid or get wrong)
Build resilience. Tackle one mark at a time. Make sure you show workings. How many marks can you get (write down what you know). Take your time and do not give up.
9
Metacognition (how we think)
Once you have completed the questions mark them. Think about how you got to the answer. Think about your approach and what worked for you. If you got it wrong where did you go wrong. Do you need to take some extra notes. Do you need to ask for some more help.
10
Example of how to tackle problems and the questions you need to ask yourself.
Q2. Five integers have a mode of 6 a median of 8 a mean of 10 What is the greatest possible range of the five integers? You must show your working. Answer (Total 3 marks)
11
M2. 15 from B2 5 integers with at least two criteria • mode 6 or • median 8 and • total 50 do not award B2 for mode and median only B1 5 integers with any one of these criteria • mode 6 • median 8 B3 [3]

What next If you can do it you do not need to revise any further on this topic. If you need some more practise wait a few weeks and do it again. If you get a lot of it wrong revise the topic and do it again in a few days have you improved. Fill in your topic plan.
