Language Arts and Reading- The spelling phonics skill is r controlled vowels eer,ear, and ere. The skills we will focus on are comparing and contrasting, silent letters, idioms, and capitalizing holidays. Also, we will be doing holiday themed writing. We will have spelling and vocabulary test.
Math- We will finish Unit 7. Unit 7 focuses on subtraction of two digit numbers with regrouping. This will be the only unit we will completed before Christmas break. This unit will take us around eleven school days. I am sending home the homework, doing one lesson a day of homework will keep you on track with the class.

WE STILL NEED A piñata!
If anyone would like to donate a piñata for our Mexico unit of Christmas Around the World, we would be very grateful.  We would need this on or before December 8th. If you would like to donate one, please me or send me a note.
The Second Grade classes will be visiting the Elkhart Oaks Nursing Home on 12/14/17 to sing carols for the residents! The residents look forward to our program every year! 
The Second Grade classes will be having a Christmas caroling program on December 20th at 1 p.m. in the Elementary gym. This will be a short program with all of the classes preforming together. We do hope that you can attend, and enjoy our Christmas cheer!
We will have a read all day on December 8th. Students may bring a blanket to read on the floor.

Students need 10 points between November 13th – December 15th with an 80% average for the 3nd 6 week prize. Second grade students must have 35 points and an 80% average for the Fall Party before December 15th.
