That USB Stick Might Be an E-cigarette!
Some e-cigarettes don’t look like tobacco products, so some kids use them unnoticed in schools, including in classrooms and bathrooms. Use of JUUL is sometimes called “JUULING”. JUUL has a very similar design to a regular USB flash drive. Regular USB where files are saved.
3
JUUL Device In appearance, the JUUL device looks quite similar to a USB flash drive, and can in fact be charged in the USB port of a computer. There are also companies that produce JUUL “wraps” or “skins,” decals that wrap around the JUUL device with unique colors and patterns (and maybe an appealing way for younger users to disguise their device).
4
How does JUUL work? Battery- powered device that can deliver nicotine and flavorings to the user in form of an aerosol. JUUL devices heat up a cartridge containing oils to create vapor, which quickly dissolves into the air. There's no fire, no ash and no smoky smell.
5
How it works!
6
Flavors JUUL’s nicotine liquid refills are called “pods”.
JUUL is available in several flavors such as Strawberry, Mango, Fruit Medley, Mint, and Cinnamon Roll. Currently there are over 7,000 flavors on the market for use on a JUUL device. A single JUUL pod contains as much NICOTINE as a pack of 20 regular cigarettes.
7
FACTS JUUL became available for sale in the United States in 2015.
As of December 2017, JUUL is the top-selling e- cigarette brand in the United States. News outlets and social media sites report wide- spread of JUUL by students on school property such as classrooms and bathrooms.

NICOTINE POISONING “Nic Sick”
Liquid nicotine products are called "e-liquid" or "smoke juice". In addition to nicotine, they contain flavorings and something to help the product vaporize, often propylene glycol or glycerol. The active ingredient in electronic cigarettes is nicotine - very concentrated nicotine. Nicotine is the poisonous chemical found in the tobacco plant. Nicotine poisoning often causes nausea, vomiting, dizziness, tremors (shakiness), and sweating, and can make the heart beat much faster than normal.
10
Nicotine in any form is a known health risk.
Evidence shows that nicotine use can impair the brain and lung development of unborn children. Nicotine use during adolescence can disrupt the formation of brain structures controlling attention, learning, and susceptibility to addiction. Electronic cigarettes are not FDA-approved smoking cessation aids.

It’s an Aerosol, Not a Vapor
E-cigarettes/vape pens allows the user to make large clouds that many think are just water vapor In reality the ‘cloud’ is a mixture of many different chemicals that were either present in the e-liquid before or produced during the heating process A vapor is a chemical that has evaporated An aerosol is a mixture of liquid particles suspended in a gas and can contain many chemicals Instead of just mixing with the air like a pure gas, aerosols can leave drops behind.

It’s an Aerosol, Not a Vapor
All of those chemicals have been found in in the e-cigarette/vape pen Aerosol And while we did not know this at first, many of these are the same chemicals found in traditional cigarettes Simply put, E Cigs produce a vapor/aerosol that often contain propylene glycol, glycerin, flavorings, and nicotine and many other harmful chemicals and toxins, some known to cause cancer Nicotine itself is a highly addictive compound And while not all contain nicotine, all have many of these chemicals and toxins .

Who is going to replace the old smokers?
Teacher Talking Points: The e-cigarette/vape pen industry knows that many of their customers are getting older and need to be replaced with new customers so they can make more profits Who do you think they see as the ideal customer?
