Welcome to Canada. Ms.Farzad,2nd period, Kennedy Johnson

2 Geography People mostly live in the southern parts of Canada because there are more natural resources. Due to there being many natural resources it provides many jobs. ex: timberman, mining Natural resources :gold, timber, coal ,fish, copper One of Canada’s environmental issues is deforestation. The cause of this is people clear cutting forests. The effect is that it can damage the environment and cause animals to lose their homes. A solution to this issue was planting trees and spending billions of dollars to protect these forests.

3 History The two languages spoken in Canada are French and English. This is because the French and English had controlled some of Canada back in the 1500’s. Pros of Quebec separating from Canada: There would no longer be disputes over the languages spoken[French, English] People in Quebec have jumped on top of their economy so they wouldn’t need Canada to help them. Cons of Quebec separating: Quebec would no longer be apart of the NAFTA, which is the partnership between Canada and the U.S Canada’s debt would almost be cut in half because Quebec would have to start paying money back with interest.

4 Government/economics
The type of citizen participation Canada has is a constitutional monarchy. This means that people vote for the legislature ,and the legislature chooses a leader who is chief of state, Ex: Justin Trudeau. Canada has the power distribution unitary where the central government has all of the power. The role of the head of state is to look pretty, The current head of state is the Queen of England. The role of the chief of state is to enforce the rules and laws, the current chief of state is Justin Trudeau. The type of economy Canada is mixed. What this means is that Canada is mixed with market and command. But the people have some say in what is done. The NAFTA is the trade partnership between the U.S and Canada. It’s important to Canada because the NAFTA trade System strengthens a country’s economy and brings in money. NAFTA also is free trade meaning no taxes on goods [tariff].

5 Government/economics continued
