Ben Franklin Franklin was sent as an ambassador to France in 1776 to try to gain French support in the war Although France at the time was the opposite of Colonial America, they were one of the most powerful countries The French loved Franklin and he was able to secure their support

She was a political hostess for the revolution She was a patriot and did a lot to help support the army She supervised other women to sew 2,200 shirts for the soldiers When Franklin died he left most of his things to Sally and her husband, including a small portrait of Louis the XVI surrounded by diamonds She sold it to finance a trip to London

Battle for Saratoga The British retook Fort Ticonderoga and then marched slowly down to the waiting Continental army Horatio Gates was in charge but was hesitant to attack unlike Benedict Arnold Arnold defied his orders to stay in his tent while the fight was going on Arnold was able to help win the battle but was injured in the leg again
